I got off to a good start on the Fast Draft Express, writing 6,685 words this weekend.  I hope to keep chuggin' along this week.

It is so difficult not to edit, though.  Don't look back, don't look back!

Since I'm joining in the Fast Draft Express a week late and will be bringing up the rear, there's no other car to represent me but the lowly Handcar.  Yep, I'll be the one pumping frantically behind the train.  I hope the exercise will be good for me.

In any case, here's my plan:

Start Date: Friday, April 6
End Date: May 5 

Weekly word count: 13, 000

Project: The Flowers of Evil--A Young Adult novel that's been hanging about my brain for awhile.  

Reward: Hmmm...To color my hair for the first time.  This is a big step as the grays are creeping in steadily.  Once I begin to color my hair, it's going to have to be a habit.  I'm torn as to whether or not to go red or darker.

Plans leading up to Friday: Befriend all the participants so I can catch up.  Put up my ticker and word count thingie.  Is anyone posting excerpts or problems?

I do have a big question for participants/writers.  I really, really want to write this novel as 3rd person.  But, there's a lot of talk lately about YA being 1st person only.  What do you all think?
